Cutting-edge microfluidic flow controller for integrated electrochemical (bio)sensors
Microfluidics and electrochemical technologies are the key elements of the next revolution. When combined, it leads to next-generation lab-on-a-chip or point-of-care systems. The miniaturization that is allowed by microfluidics is fully compatible with already miniaturized electrodes and sensors. One of the most known biosensors is the glucose test for diabetes patients. A tiny electrode measures the current generated by a blood droplet in contact with an enzyme. These types of sensors are miniaturized year after year to improve patients’ lives. Microfluidics is thus used to transport and manipulate the blood sample to the detection site.
This synergistic relationship between microfluidics and electrochemistry relies on fine-tuning of both parameters. The precise fluidic control can be performed thanks to the OB1 MK4 flow controller. Whether you work with stable or pulsatile flow, or for short or week-long processes and the OB1 MK4 flow controller is the ideal instrument for developing new types of biosensors. The electrode is added to the system through the microfluidic chip. Contact our team of experts to find out the best configuration for your setup.
Customizable & upgradable solution for new lab-on-a-chip
The OB1 MK4 flow controller is a highly adaptable instrument that can be customized to meet your specific experimental requirements. Based on the number of reagents you need and the procedure to follow for the chemical reaction, the OB1 MK4 flow controller can be configured to suit your needs. With up to four independent channels per flow controller, the OB1 MK4 enables you to manage the simultaneous flow of multiple reagents with precision. In cases where multiple chips must be operated simultaneously, simply divide the flow among all the chips in use with a manifold.
To further customize the flow controller, the pressure range for each individual outlet is adjustable within a spectrum of -1 bar to 8 bar. Our team of experts is available to help you determine the best configuration and number of pressure outlets required for your experiment.
Control the flow rate of each liquid entering your (bio)sensor
When performing an analytical test on a chip, the flow rates must be carefully monitored to ensure reproducible and effective tests. By connecting the OB1 MK4 to a flow rate sensor (MFS) or our premium Coriolis flow sensor (BFS, for both liquid and gas), you can accurately measure the flow of liquids to optimize your lab-on-a-chip experiment.
With our intuitive software, you will have access to the different independent lines and you can finely control either the applied pressure or the flow rate passing through your microfluidic chip. Automated experiments can also be easily performed by creating a sequence of instructions in our sequencer. For more advanced users, the SDK libraries allow you to control the OB1 MK4 with your own code while connecting it to other instruments.
By using our advanced flow control solutions, you can ensure that your (bio)sensing experiments are optimized and yield accurate results. Our team of experts is available to help you determine the optimal configuration.
