“I use the ElveflowAF1 dual pressure and vacuum generator. I use it to cyclically vary the air pressure under a membrane on which cells are cultured. Earlier I was using a syringe pump to do this. I am interested in the strains generated in the membrane, which are proportional to the pressure applied to it. With the syringe pump I could only approximate the pressures from the initial and final volumes, but not measure them. Also, the syringe pump was susceptible to pressure build up or leakage as it just kept pushing air in and out without worrying about the pressure. The AF1 unit allows me to apply a known pressure profile and directly controls the pressure, thus compensating for any air build up or leakage. The good fit for my need and the ease of use convinced me to get the Elveflow AF1 system.”

Dr. Drenckhan is a senior research fellow at the French national center for scientific research (CNRS). Dr. Drenckhan manages the Liquids Interfaces Group of the Physic of Solids Lab – CNRS UMR 8502 at Orsay University.
Dr. Drenckhan is specialized on liquids interfaces physic. Her group is interested in organisation and dynamics of monolayers of interfacially active agents (surfactants, proteins, polymers, nano-particles, and their mixtures) at interfaces. Pr. Viallat is a senior staff scientist and research director at the French national center for scientific research (CNRS). Pr. Viallat is also director of the CNRS French research consortium: physics from cell to tissue.

Dr. Panizza is specialized on soft-matter and digital microfluidic. He studies the influence of boundary conditions such as surface topography, or confinement. Dr. Saint-Jalmes is a research director at the French national center for scientific research (CNRS). Dr. Saint-Jalmes leads the Soft Matter Group of IPR – UMR UR1-CNRS 6251 at Rennes University.
Dr. Saint-Jalmes is specialized on soft-matter and soft dispersed systems (in particular, on aqueous foams) and on gas/liquid interfaces. His laboratory is based on complementary experimental and theoretical multiscale studies, from molecular organisation to macroscopic behaviour.
