Summary: The conference is about the expanding field of 3-dimensional cell culture using microfluidics and Lab-on-a-Chip technologies. These clusters have functional significance and can mimic in vivo organ structures.

The focus of this edition will be about “disease-on-a-chip”, including models of cancer-on-a-chip and immune system-on-a-chip.

To understand further this field of application, we can take the example of liver cells that are assembled on chips in a physiologically-relevant architecture using microfluidics and that can be used for toxicity screening. A number of models such as Lung-on-a-Chip, Brain-on-a-Chip, Gut-on-a-Chip, Marrow-on-a-Chip, Bone-on-a-Chip, Nerve-on-a-Chip amongst others have been built and will be presented and explored at this conference.
