This innovative platform delivers rapid results within 28 minutes, costing approximately $9.5 per assay, and aligns closely with commercial systems in accuracy. Notably portable and adaptable, it proves invaluable for settings lacking centralized labs, offering flexibility to choose between RT-qPCR and RT-LAMP based on diagnostic needs.

Microfluidics for personalized cancer treatment

Researchers have developed a cutting-edge digital microfluidic system for drug screening using primary tumor cells, overcoming the challenge of limited cell availability from early-stage cancer patients. This innovative system features smart control logic to enhance throughput and minimize size, allowing parallel screening of three drugs on a compact 4 × 4 cm² chip. Validated in both breast cancer mouse models and liver cancer patient specimens, the system accurately identified effective drugs, correlating with genetic analysis results. This breakthrough technique promises significant advancements in precision medicine, offering personalized cancer treatment and potential applications for other diseases.
