Martyna Goral
PhD, Service and Training Engineer
Martyna Goral, PhD, has a background in fluid mechanics, microfluidics, and complex fluids, with over eight years of research experience. She studied mechanical engineering with a specialization in fluid mechanics at Sorbonne Université and École Polytechnique before completing her PhD in Physics at Université de Paris. Her doctoral research focused on the swimming and collective behavior of E. coli in complex fluids, using microfluidic and capillary devices to investigate how confinement and non-Newtonian environments influence bacterial motion.
During her postdoctoral research, she continued working at the interface of fluid mechanics and microfluidics. At ESPCI Paris-PSL, she contributed to the development of a color-switching hydrogel pressure sensor for microfluidic applications, designing the sensor and carrying out experimental tests with heart stem cells. She then moved to the University of British Columbia, where she investigated the dynamics of bubbles rising in yield-stress fluids and developed experimental methods to control their trajectories.
Her research has given her extensive hands-on experience with microfluidic devices, experimental setups, rheology, imaging, and data analysis, as well as experience communicating scientific results through publications, conferences, teaching, and supervision.
At Elveflow, Martyna brings this research experience into a more application-focused environment as the Service and Training Engineer working in the customer success team. She particularly enjoys understanding the challenges researchers encounter in the lab, troubleshooting experimental setups, and turning complex fluidic concepts into practical solutions. Her goal is to help users feel confident with their equipment and to build a bridge between the technology and the scientific questions they are trying to answer.
